‘You always have the right to change your mind’ — Oprah Winfrey on marriage

Media mogul and television personality Oprah Winfrey has said people have the right to change their minds about getting married, even when wedding plans are already in place.

Winfrey made the remarks during an appearance on The Mel Robbins Podcast, where she reflected on a major decision in her own life and the lesson she drew from the experience.

According to her, anyone who realises they do not want to marry someone should feel free to reconsider the decision, regardless of how far preparations for the wedding have gone.

“You always have the right to change your mind. If the people are in the church, sitting in the pews, and you’re getting ready to walk down the aisle and you know inside yourself, I should not be marrying this person, you always have the right to change your mind,” she said.

Winfrey stressed that the fact that invitations have already been sent out or extensive arrangements have been made should not force someone to proceed with a marriage they no longer want.

“But the invitations have gone out. You always have the right to change your mind,” she added.
